Have it evaluated by: Your pcp or an orthopod, with a detailed history, examination, investigations. All these would provide a diagnosis, so treatment could be started. Good luck ; happy holidays.

Several possibilitie: If it's directly along the spine, could be disc injury, herniation, torn ligament, tumor (not likely as these tend to be dull aching), or commonly a locked vertebra (higher up, could be rib).A good history & physical, esp. Hands-on osteopathic exam could elucidate cause leading to proper treatment.Simple, sharp pain is frequently easily diagnosed & fixable by osteopathic manipulation right in office.

Hard to say.: Could be something as simple as a muscle strain, or you could have a bulging disc, spinal curvature, arthritis, just to name a few. You should see a non-surgical sports medicine specialist, who can make an accurate diagnosis and prescribe treatment.

Nerve Pain: It sounds like you may have a pinched nerve or more likely a muscle strain or spasm. A nerve should have symptoms into your arm as well which you do not mention. Either way if this continues an evaluation by your physician is warranted if this continues
