A member asked:

I've been on 30mg of focalin (dexmethylphenidate) for the last 2 years. i'd like to stop taking, but even if i don't take it for 1 day, i become extremely hungry and tired?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Focalin (dexmethylphenidate): Focalin (dexmethylphenidate) is a form of methylphenidate, a stimulantt used for adhd and other conditions. Sudden, abrupt discontinuation is not recommended due to the effects you describe as well as possible depression , neuromuscular reactions, mood changes, irritability , etc. Re-emergence of symptoms it is treating may occur, too. Talk to your md about tapering off, adding or changing meds.
