Make sure you are being treated by an experienced dentist or oral ; maxillofacial surgeon. The chances of a nerve injury are low if the tooth is removed with care.

Yes, but: In the hands of an oral surgeon. the risk to the nerve is low. Make sure you are being treated by an oral surgeon. You may benefit from an xray called a cone beam CT which will minimize risk to the nerve.
