Quantity of Push Ups: As a podiatrist, I emphasize a 3 time a week gradual progressive strengthening program for the feet, ankles, and lower extremity. I assume that this would apply to do pushups. We need the recovery time. Never push through pain, as you really want to get to fatigue, then stop. This way you will have gained some, and can continue to progress. Dr Rich Blake
