Jelly; probe: Ultrasound operator places some aqueous jelly on the breast ; then scans using ultrasound probe, about size of a cany bar. Probe is moved back ; forth whilst operator watches a video screen. Jelly is wiped off at end of study. Operator is either a dr/radiologist, dr/gynecologist (if trained) or an ultrasound technician ; study is reviewed by a dr.

You: will likely be on your back and laying down, or sitting up to some degree. The technologist will put standard ultrasound gel on your skin, then place the ultrasound probe on the skin in order to scan. Depending on what your doctor is looking for, they may scan a section of one breast, the whole breast, or both breasts.
