Please tell me if it is possible for a mammogram to miss something?

Yes. It is possible.: Mammogram is seeing only a shadow of cancer tissue. If the shadows were too small or too thin, you can not tell. If the shadow is suspicious, doctors recommends to return in a few months for repeat study or carry out other studied such as sonogram or even a needle biopsy.

Yes: No test is 100% accurate. In general, mammography is about 80% sensitive for detecting cancer. Sensitivity is decreased somewhat. in women with dense breasts. Mammography remains the best test that we have available to screen for breast cancer.
