Wisdom Teeth: I give patients enough Motrin for 3 days@a dose of 800mg three times per day. I also give them 800 mg before we start so it is working before they leave. You should ice ice ice 20 min on and 20 min off for four days including the day of surgery (less swelling less pain). Talk to your surgeon before the procedure. I also give antibiotics.

Wisdom teeth: There is no pain during the actual extraction because you will be numb but there will be some discomfort after. Take painkillers as prescribed by your dentist. To minimize further discomfort, use ice packs and warm compresses. Eat soft foods such as gelatin, etc. After the first day, you can rinse with warm salt water to reduce pain and swelling.
