Could codeine linctus help to get rid of long term smokers who develop a cough?

Get rid of smokers?: Or get rid of the cough. It will not get rid of the smokers, but it will suppress cough to some extent. Smokers cough is usually part of chronic bronchitis and emphysema, and any cough suppressant might reduce the cough somewhat, but it will not get rid of it. Stopping smoking and letting the bronchi and lungs heal is what will ultimately get rid of cough. Not sure how you get rid of smokers.
