Be careful: Using large amount of topical anesthetic is not wise since it can cause life threatening condition. Instead, check with your doctor to see what he would prescribe for you.

It is recommended: Just squeeze a line of Orajel along the cuticle and let soak for 2 or 3 minutes and the pain is gone. Since the active ingredient, benzocaine, is actually a topical local anesthetic, it numbs the area where it is applied, and prevents those nerves from sending signals to the brain.
