I woke up with a tender to the touch on my right jaw. there is a small bump located directly below the ear and less than half an inch away from the ear on my jaw. thoughts on what this possibly is?

Possible lymph node: In that location, there are several structures that could cause pain - dental, salivary gland or lymph node. Given the location and your age, it is likely to be a swollen lymph gland, either due to some bacterial or viral infection. If you don't have problems with dental hygiene, you may see an otolaryngologist (ear, nose, throat specialist), if the pain persists more than a few days.
