Usually: Usually someone is not contagious once the fever is gone. There are exceptions, but that is a good rule. The childcare provider should always practice good hygiene to prevent the spread of infections from one child to another, even when there is no obvious illness.

Hand Hygiene: Viruses may shed for days after the fever is gone, but the transmission rate is lower. I would advise that the center use hand washing and sanitize the surfaces/toys.
