Broken leg: Without knowing if it's upper or lower leg, and whether or not he had any medical intervention, it can be assumed that this pain is chronic( there for a long time) since he is healed. Now chronic pain can occur from abnormal persistence of pain pathways and the messages they send to the brain, even if the immediate problem is resolved ( i.e. The broken leg). It's kinda like phantom pain

Pain after healing: Sometimes pain from a nerve sensitivity can develop after an injury even though the bone is healed. If the orthopedist feels the bone is healed, you may want to ask the doctor about treatment with physical therapy.
