You are right: You may be able to relieve the pain with rest however if the pain is starting early in the morning you may want to be sure there is not autoimmune component. If it started with overuse, you could rest and massage with liniment and wear good supportive shoes with like tight fight socks like copper fit socks and it may ease the pain by minimizing the rub that could happen with activities.
