Treatment of Gout: There are 2 types of treatment for gout. One type of treatment are medications(e.G . Colchicine) decreased the symptoms of inflammation such as pain and swelling. Another type of treatment are medications(e.g. Febuxostat) that decrease the uric acid levels. If pain and swelling is persistent with colchicine, you may need short course of oral steroids. Discuss this with your doctor.

Gout: All things stated are good things to do. The Prednisone is also good as also an injection of cortisone helps a lot. As the attack has lasted this long , it may not be gout. See your podiatrist , too
