Check Out This Study: A harris interactive(r) study revealed that a large percentage (40%) of american adults have experienced difficulty swallowing pills, even though most have had no problems swallowing food or liquid. Of these patients, 14 % have delayed taking doses, 8 % have skipped doses and 4% have stopped their meds. Talk to your doctor about alternative ways to take your meds and to reduce your anxiety.

Some people do: Have trouble swallowing pills, despite being able to swallow a large piece of steak. So yes, in some cases it is anxiety related. For others, they forget to take a swallow of water before talking the pill--which really helps if you have dry mouth.
