Yes, but...: Gout, caused by uric acid crystals in joints, due to abnormal metabolism of purines ( protein breakdown product), can cause kidney damage over time. Relatively uncommon in gout, relatively uncommon cause of kidney damage. Lots of causes for increased creatinine. See md.
