Dr. John Chiu answered

Immune defect: If the sinus openings are obstructed, antibiotic alone would not take care of the infection until drainage can be established. On occasions, a short course of cortisone may be used along with antibiotic to help clear the sinuses. Other conditions include immune deficiency , cystic fibrosis etc should be looked into as well. Perhaps you need to bring him to an allergist./immunologist in your area.
