Valsalva/vomiting: Any prolonged increase in abdominal pressure as in vomiting or severe coughing spells ; the like will cause it. Also strangulation that does not end in death.

Ecchymosis: The causes of bruised eyelids are many as follows: trauma (accidental ; physical), surgery, infections (particularly bacterial septicemia), allergies (eliciting chronic eyelid rubbing), skull fracture (basilar), insect bite, bleeding disorder (coagulopathy), others. If you have an injury or infection, seek medical attention. Most eccymotic eyelids that are from benign causes will be self limited.
