Back tooth death: I am not sure what you mean. Are you referring to wisdom teeth, or any back tooth. And is it infection in the teeth that prompted the question? If so infections that go untreated can be very dangerous, so if this is the reason for your question you need to see a dentist asap and have it evaluated. Hope that helps.

In rare cases: Technically yes but in very rare cases where a person can get meningitis from a severely abscessed upper tooth, or someone else might get cepticeamia where puss and bacteria travail through your blood stream subjecting the patient to severe injuries and subsequent death...

Yes, NY Daily News: "An unemployed Cincinnati man with no health insurance died after a tooth infection spread to his brain because he couldn't afford treatment". The tooth infection you speak of can may spread to your jaw and to other areas of your brain, head and neck. I would strongly encourage you to seek treatment at your dentist ASAP since those complications can occur at anytime.

Yes: If you are asking can you die from infected back teeth or infected gums, although rare the answer is yes. Any infection should be treated immediately or the bacteria can not only damage the teeth and surrounding jaw bone and gums, but can also spread to,many damage, other organs. Please see your Dentist IMMEDIATELY.
