Not common..: .. But certainly possible. Dental infections can spread to other parts of your body and tax your immune system. Before antibiotics, dental infections were one of the leading causes of death. Fix your teeth and don't take a chance

It is uncommon: bad teeth can result in infections that are of concern. A good example is Ludwig’s angina. It is the most commonly encountered infection of the neck space. It is also uncommon, but if not treated has a mortality rate of about 50%. See your dentist for evaluation and dental treatment.
