Loritab: Your friends dental problems may only partially be related to the drugs she is taking. They can cause dry mouth, which will increase decay. Other factors in her lifestyle, such as her diet, poor oral hygiene and lack of dental care for 6or 7 years are the reasons she now is facing such major dental problems.

Indirectly: Substance abuse/addiction takes its toll on people in many different ways. One way is that it can change our priorities and result neglecting important good habits. I am not aware that lortab abuse affects teeth, but it certainly may have caused your friend to loose control of her oral hygiene. Once it starts to go downhill, problems can develop and progress rapidly. Dry mouth can also result.
