Yes and probably: Erythromycin is a macrolide antibiotic. It is not related to the penecillins nor cephalosporins to which you had allergies. There should be no cross reactivity. The standard treatment for stye is heat and compression (squeezing) then surgical incision and drainage if initial therapy is unsuccessful. If a patient has an eye infection with discharge, the antibiotic ointment goes inside the eyelid.

Yes its safe to use: It, despite allergies to pcn or keflex, as its an entirely different class of an antibiotic. It can be used around the eyes as well. Make sure for the eye conditions you use an ophthalmic oint form of the erythromycin. Good luck. Any concerns check with your pcp.
