Many: There are many possible causes of shortness of breath, e.g. Lung disease, heart disease, anemia, etc. Some may show on x-ray and many will not. You should be evaluated by your doctor.

Many things: Shortness of breath can be related to reactive airway disease or asthma. Most often radiograph is clear unless complicated by areas of volume loss or pneumonia. Viral processes affecting lungs often do not manifest consolidations in lungs. You should see pulmonologist for examination and possible pulmonary function testing.
