My answer is over: Simplified. Jock itch is caused by a fungus called tinea cruris. It can cause an area of red skin that burns or itches. It is more often seen in men. A yeast infection is caused by a different fungus called candida albicans. It is often seen as an vaginal infection in women. Sxs of yeast infection may include: burning, redness ; itching of the vulva; burning ; clumpy, white non-odorous discharge.
