A disaster...: Not really. Hiv in pregnancy is similar to HIV in non-pregnant persons except that pregnancy suppresses our immune system and the virus can be more aggressive if untreated. The major issue is the other life that is affected and the concern for mother to child transmission. We have persons with aids now having children with very low risk for transmission if they are on haart and followed closely.
