Get you to quit?: Though old-timers used to skin test for allergy to tobacco, I'm not sure this was helpful at all. I don't think I have heard that tobacco has triggered anaphylaxis or hives. Smoking (and chewing) do plenty of damage by other mechanisms. Asthma, COPD, chronic bronchitis as well as cardiovascular risks are reasons enough to stop or not start all together. You cough for a reason; listen to your body.
