A member asked:

What can lead to hiv-aids besides sexual relations?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Exchange of fluids.: Unprotected sex (both heterosexual and homosexual) can be one route of transmitting hiv. Sharing contaminated needles (such as in intravenous drug use / abuse) can spread hiv. Receiving blood or blood products from an HIV infected donor can also spread hiv. The U.S. Blood supply is screened for HIV and other infections to reduce/eliminate risk of transfusion related infections.
