False + HIV test: The elisa and pcr tests for HIV have become incredibly sensitive and specific (meaning there are few false positives and negatives). Rarely we see a false positive HIV tests in those with history of autoimmune disease, multiple pregnancies, blood transfusions, liver diseases, IV drug users, hemodialysis, or recent vaccinations for hepatitis b, rabies, or influenza. Check the western blot or retest.
