How do i know if my newborn is eating enough?

Weight gain: Your baby may not eat too much the first few days. Babies are not often born with huge appetites. Your baby will lose weight initially but regain the birthweight by 7-10 days. You will know if your baby is eating enough if he/she is gaining weight. Babies gain 2/3 to 1 ounce per day.

Weight and diapers: All breastfed babies lose a little weight in the beginning. Signs your baby is getting enough milk: 1) look for the same number of wet diapers as your baby is days old (1 pee on day 1, 2 on day 2...), then by day 4 onward 5-8 wet diapers a day. 2) stool changes from black to yellow by day of life 4. 3) your pediatrician will also check baby's weight frequently the first week of life.

Weight: A baby's weight is the most accurate way to know if baby is eating enough. For a newborn, a baby is getting enough milk if stools are yellow by day 5 and if baby regains birthweight by day 10. For older babies, adequate weight gain will show you that baby is getting enough even if you feel you don't have enough milk or if baby spits up a lot.
