A member asked:

Can you tell me is it okay to eat vegetarian/vegan seafood if you have a shellfish allergy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Vegetarian/vegan : Seafood should contain no shellfish. It would be made with plant ingredients made to mimic the taste of shellfish. Therefore, if it is purely vegetarian or vegan it should be fine. Of course, you should always check or ask about the ingredients and about whether the preparation facility also processes seafood and could, therefore, cause cross contamination.
