Similar yet differen: Phentermine, a contraction of "phenyl-tertiary-butylamine", is a drug of the phenethylamine class, with pharmacology similar to amphetamine. It is used as an appetite suppressant. Therefore, while it's mechanism of action is similar to adderall, (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) it is not structurally similar to Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) and belongs in a different chemical class. It is however a psycho stimulant drug.

Similar: they're both stimulants, however, phentermine has a longer duration of action. they both share issues with dependency and tolerance. if u are trying medical weight loss please see a provider that specializes in this. there's a nonstimulant appetite suppressant called Belviq (lorcaserin) that's worth considering. also, both phentermine and adderall may result in anxiety, insomnia, increased heart rate & HTN.
