More accurate: Is the answer that birds may cause hypersensitivity pneumonitis. Fortunately, they do not cause asthma (cause still unknown) or COPD (=fancy word for smoker's lung). Should you avoid these animals? Not more than cats or pigeons. You may want to discuss the need for lung function testing with your doc.
