Tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen: You could start with acetominophen (tylenol) 500 mg tabs 1-2 every 8 hours, not to exceed 3 gm daily. If that doesn't work you could try Ibuprofen (motrin) 400-600 mg three times daily, or Naproxen 250-500 (aleve) mg twice daily. However, the later two pose increased risk of gastrointestinal problems, such as ulcers if used on a daily basis.

NSAIDs: Antiinflammatories like Ibuprofen or Naproxen are good for joint pain. Tylenol (acetaminophen) can work too. If you have any other medical problems, you can check with your doctor to make sure it's ok for you to take them.
