At least for 4-6 hrs: Most serious reactions will occur immediately or within the first 30 minutes. However reactions can be delayed and you want to stay alert and vigilant for many hours after multiple stings.

Home remedy...: that we used to use all the time as kids. It felt good, it was cool, it kept the swelling down, and we could keep playing outside, but that's about it. A cold washcloth or ice pack would do just as much. Whatever you do, make sure you get the stinger out.
