How do they protect your neck from radiation, when you get a neck x ray?

Good Technique: You can't shield the thyroid if you want to image the cervical spine or the soft tissues of the neck. Classical ways to minimize radiation dose are to limit the size of the field being irradiated and using proper technique to avoid repeating the exam.

No: They can't shield the neck, because then they couldn't do the X-ray. They will narrow the beam(collimate) to be sure that only the necessary region is xrayed
