Open or closed: your jaw can be locked open or closed. Most likely you're asking about a closed lock, where the disk is locked out of position. Usually causes pain Much better to have it unlocked in terms of future jaw health. See an oral surgeon about unlocking jaw. Arthrocentesis or arthroscopic surgery may be required.
