TMD specialist: This is related to a problem with your jaw joint(s)- temporormandibular joints. Find a dentist with extensive training and experience in treating patients with tmd (temporomandibular joint dysfunction). If you can't find one, ask your general dentist to refer you to one. Proper early diagnosis and treatment will prevent bigger problems down the road.

Disk problem: Likely the TMJ disk is out of position. This is an advanced TMJ condition. See a TMJ expert for evaluation/treatment. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals.
