Not in the Midwest : Prices very greatly across the country. From a midwestern perspective that price sounds very high. However, there are parts of chicago where people charge even more. Here in wisconsin things are much less costly. I can't think of anyone here who would be charging $500 an hour. Prices are closer to the 200-300 range. Don't for a moment however think that insurance companies pay us in this range. Medicare is much less and medicaid does not even cover the office overhead.Best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season.

What city?: In some cities, psychiatrists might have fee-for-service practices that charge that much per hour -- but they don't in scottsdale az. A 60-90 minute evaluation might cost $350, and psychotherapy fees might be $250-$300 an hour. There are variations in this, of course. I maybe some colleagues from la, new york city, or san francisco will comment.
