Specializes in Psychiatry

Evaluation 1st: The psychiatrist will want to hear all about your current concerns, past history, family history, medical illnesses past & present, medications, other treatments, social history, etc. S/he may also want to hear from family members or others who are close to you, who might be able to offer their observations. The doctor may also want some additional lab studies before making recommendations.

Initial eval: The first session is gathering a history of the problem, your social and family history as well as a thorough medical history. Be sure to bring a list of any meds you are on. Then a preliminary game plan is laid out. The second session is to find out how things are working, any problems and a fine tuning or adjustment if your plan. Your needs and wishes are vital. You need to be comfortable.
