Likely uneventful: If you have pain and infection when a root canal is initiated you are more likely to run into problems. If you are getting a root canal because of a nerve exposure while decay was being removed, very few have any real pain issues. Most of the time it is biting pain for a few days any loner, check with your dentist. Most people are able to control any discomfort with anti-inflammatories.

No pain: If you are given the proper amount of local anesthetic, you should have no pain or discomfort while having the root canal. You should also have no discomfort having a post and the crown.
