Why do you ask?: It's moot. You're a grown-up. Are you any the worse for not having had formal instruction? They may have been uncomfortable themselves. If this is the least oversight for which you must forgive your parents, count yourself VERY fortunate. Now, hopefully you realize how helpful things would have been, and if it's time for you to guide a youngster, you'll do better. Cheers.
