Get checked for STDs: Vaginal bleeding after sex is suspicious for cervicitis, often due to STDs like gonorrhea, chlamydia, sometimes trichomonas. BV itself doesn't bleed. Metronidazole is fine for BV and trich, but not for gonorrhea or chlamydia. Probably you were tested for STDs, but if you only spoke with your doc and not seen in person, return to the office and insist on exam and lab testing. Good luck!

BV: Bacterial vaginosis is not a sexually transmitted disease. One may continue to have sex while being treated if they choose and feel comfortable.

Likely safe: Metronidazole is pregnancy category b. Hence not known to be teratogenic.
