Worth it ?: That is totally up to you. If you want to save that tooth (and if it needs root canal therapy, it probably also needs a crown) and you don't mind spending money on a tooth that is difficult to keep clean and probably won't last your lifetime, then do it. I've had mine taken out, and that's what i advise my patients, but the choice, again, is yours.

Call dentist: It could be that the crown is just a little high and is being traumatized by the opposing teeth hitting it. Call your dentist to have the occlusion of the crown checked and possibly adjusted.
