A member asked:

Docs can you explain, is it really possible to get a dry socket after a tonsillectomy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: 'dry socket' only applies to a tooth removal after which exposed bone and nerve can cause pain. Tonsillectomy hurts for a different reason- the exposure of muscle in the throat. For details, see an ENT who can explain even more.
