Symptoms: You should be able to tell by symptoms. If you outgrew the asthma, then you should have no cough at night, no cough when active and no cough, wheezing or trouble breathing. If so, then your parents are probably correct. If you have symptoms, then see a doctor to be evaluated for asthma.
