Yes: I recommend that you find a dentist with extensive training and experience treating patients with tmd\tmjoint problems. Most dentists actually have little or no training in this area and merely fabricate a night guard. Research dentists in your area. Your own dentist might be able to refer you to one.

Depends: The answer may depend on whom diagnosed "permanent locking" of your mandible. I would get a second opinion from a tmj/tmd specialist.
