Vulvodynia: Great questions about effexor, which indeed can help some women with vulvodynia. It's not a standalone treatment though, and isn't preventative or curative. No single agent has found to help a majority of women, and a trial of multiple medications is usually needed. Others include elavil, norpramin, topical anesthetics, gabapentin, lyrica, (pregabalin) cymbalta, tramadol, tegretol, and estrogens.
