What would cause my 4 year old son to shiver while not having a fever, feeling cold or having any other symptoms.

Probably OK: Sometimes people shiver because they are excited or surprised. If this is an ongoing thing and it concerns you, consider taking a video of it and showing it to the child's doctor. If he is not having any weight loss, fever, or other difficulty, it is probably ok. If it is prolonged or involves any lapse in his consciousness or involves unusual movements, it certainly merits a dr. Visit.
