Depends : The thickness of the fat layer varies greatly between different parts of the body and in different people. The fat layer in hands and feet is usually quite thin while fat on the abdomen can be several inches thick. Obese people may have several inches of fat while athletic people may have nearly none. Nerves are present in the skin and below the fat but tendons are only present underneath the fat.
