Shin splints: Tibial periostitis('shin splints ') is common in young athletes.Usually it is most tender in the lower 1/3 of the tibia. Stretching exercises and physical therapy modalities , nsaids can be helpful. It is usually exacerbated by intense running ( like bb).Rest for a period of time(3-6 wks) is impt.Other conditions( exertional compt.Syndrome, stress fx) should be ruled out. See ors. Best of luck.
